چکیده

The article provides a brief overview of Social Network Analysis (SNA) and its potential for exploiting the wealth of information buried in the email archives of business and private entities. Within the scope of the COMMIUS1 project, we built a proof-of-concept prototype in Java, which used the spreading activation algorithm to reconstruct various aspects of multidimensional social network from emails. Two different variants of the spreading activation algorithm are discussed and compared.

Trace complexity

Prediction tasks in machine learning usually require deducing a latent variable, or structure, from observed traces of activity — sometimes, these tasks can be carried out with a significant precision and statistical significance, while sometimes getting any useful prediction requires an unrealistically large number of traces. In this talk, we will study the trace complexity of (that is, the nu...

Using an Evaluator Fixed Structure Learning Automata in Sampling of Social Networks

Social networks are streaming, diverse and include a wide range of edges so that continuously evolves over time and formed by the activities among users (such as tweets, emails, etc.), where each activity among its users, adds an edge to the network graph. Despite their popularities, the dynamicity and large size of most social networks make it difficult or impossible to study the entire networ...

Automation of social networks with QA agents

This paper describes a model, ASKNEXT, for connecting agents using social networks for knowledge exchanges using email. It proposes a protocol and a mathematical model to understand how emails spread throughout social networks of agents and people, which can be used to predict the scalability of agents exchanging emails to find answers to questions.

Revealing Social Networks of Spammers

Spam doesn't really need an introduction—anyone who owns an email address likely receives spam emails every day. However, spam is much more than just an annoyance. Spam's hidden economic cost for companies in wasted storage, bandwidth, technical support, and most important, the loss of employee productivity, is astronomical. The annual cost of spam for a company with 12,000 employees is approxi...

Personal Email Networks: An Effective Anti-Spam Tool

We provide an automated graph theoretic method for identifying individual users’ trusted networks of friends in cyberspace. We routinely use our social networks to judge the trustworthiness of outsiders, i.e., to decide where to buy our next car, or to find a good mechanic for it. In this work, we show that an email user may similarly use his email network, constructed solely from sender and re...
